Looking for an amazing, fun, family filled adventure where you are almost guaranteed the sunshine – and not too far from the UK? We have got you covered! This was our first trip to Tenerife and it surely won’t be our last! So much to see and do, including the worlds best waterpark! Keep reading for details on what we thought of The Hard Rock Hotel and what we got up to in Tenerife…
Hard Rock Hotel: 100% has the WOW factor, from the second you walk in to the stunning reception you can tell that you have checked in to somewhere truly 5*. We were in Tenerife for a reason and that was Harry turning double digits – so I had emailed ahead asking for some special treats in our room and they did not disappoint! Balloons, cake and a personalised message – so sweet. Our room was HUGE, really unique and special – with a huge mirror on the roof, whirlpool bath (actually in the room) and a balcony with the most stunning view.
Harry & Mila are BIG on swimming so pools is a big one for us, huge bonus is they are heated, the hotel has a toddler splash pool and then 3 huge, lovely pools (one is an adults.)
For all of the foodies you are spoilt for choice, 5 a-la-carte restaurants along with the buffet restaurant. We ate at the beach club restaurant, Fusion and the Buffet and can hands down say all of them were amazing – but pricey! We would highly recommend going all-inclusive if you plan on dining in the hotel a few times. We can also recommend the yummy Indian restaurant opposit the hotel, really reasonably priced and fantastic food.
Location
So location wise, €25 in a taxi from the airport which was great, extremely central to shops and lots of little restaurants (right on your doorstep.) If you are looking for a beautiful, sandy beach within walking distance this may not be the hotel for you. My kids aren’t hugely bothered about the beach and were more than happy with the heated pools at the hotel but if a beach is a deal breaker for you then this is something to keep in mind. Siam Park and Monkey land were also just a €20-€30 taxi away, so overall a fab location!
We only had 3 nights here so didn’t want to book too much but we did manage to fit in two fantastic days out. We obviously couldn’t visit Tenerife without visiting the worlds no.1 waterpark, Siam Park! I’ve got to say I can see why it has earned that title, the kids were in their element. We arrived at 9.45am, a little earlier than opening time but read this was worth it as they do open a little earlier than they say. We managed to fit in some of the big slides before the queues began. I would recommend going on a weekday and out of school holidays if you can as I have heard it can get very busy, we barely had to queue and the kids got all the slides in! There is also two gorgeous beaches you can relax on with big wave pools for the kids to play in. The food here was really good and actually very reasonably priced at Siam Beach.
Monkey Land: We actually ended up going here as a recommendation from the hotel reception (very helpful.) Harry really wanted to go to Loro Park but it is on the other side of the island and we were going home that day. This place wasn’t far from the hotel and tickets were super cheap so thought we would give it a try.
We had SUCH a good time here, feeding the guinea pigs and the monkeys, spotting all of the exotic birds, crocodiles and snakes. It is very interactive with walk throughs filled with birds, lemurs and guinea pigs.
We spent about 2 1/2 hours here which was perfect for a morning or afternoon break away from swimming. Would highly recommend a visit.
Tip: No food options here apart from an ice-cream at the end so fill up before you go or take a picnic.
Extra Tips
Room: We stayed in a studio suite: Gold – if you want lots of space and sharing with the kids this is a fab option.
Fusion restaurant: The sushi here was amazing if you like this style of food.
Do go All-Inclusive if you plan on dining and drinking in the hotel, my G&T’s were around €13 so wish we had taken this option.
I would go taxi rather than transfer from the airport, only €20ish and there are so many taxis lined up outside the airport
DO go for a drink on the 16th floor – take the open glass lift up, it goes quite fast and the kids loved it. The cocktails are amazing and the vibe/view is perfect for a drink before dinner.
