Goldsborough Hall

Goldsborough Hall, Knaresborough is a stunning stately home, previously owned by Princess Mary in 1922 and gloriously restored by the current owners, is as regal and spectacular as its illustrious history. As you can see from the photo above, it holds a special place in our hearts as this is where we had our beautiful wedding day.

Set in stunning and pristine grounds, just a short drive from the quaint market town of Knaresborough and the beautiful, stylish spa town of Harrogate, there is plenty to do and see on a visit to Goldsborough Hall. Both these towns merit a visit, Harrogate is fantastic for shopping and hosts some fabulous restaurants and bars. We would recommend a cocktail at The Ivy and a delightful afternoon tea at the iconic ‘Betty’s’ – don’t forget to take home some raspberry macarons. Knaresborough is a picturesque, beautiful, historic little town with some wonderful hidden gems – take a boat trip down the river and visit the incredible ‘Mother Shipton’s cave.’

If, however, you decide not to venture away from Goldsborough Hall…..we don’t blame you! The grounds are incredibly beautiful – complete perfection in every season. Take a stroll around the 12 acres of stunning and historical beauty of the Goldsborough gardens, a personal highlight; 5 Japanese cherry trees gifted to princess Mary as a wedding present by the emperor of Japan.

Dining at Goldsborough Hall is a real pleasure, whether it is an afternoon tea in the Orangery or a faboulous 2 rosette, award wining tasting menu in the evening. We had an exquisite, fine dining experience in The Dining Room – pig cheek, lamp rump, plum sorbet and the classic sticky toffee pudding dripping in Goldsborough toffee sauce. Enjoy post dinner drinks in the cosy library, sit by the grand fireplace and unwind to the sound of a crackling open log fire. We also must mention the breakfast – absoloutley 5 star; fresh pastries, full English, freshly squeezed orange juice – yum!

The bay windows in The Presidential Suit

There is plenty of choice in accommodation, ranging from a luxury garden view room complete with hot tub, or if you really want to push the boat out, to the luxurious Presidential suite, fit for royalty (and us newlyweds!) – with an 8ft 4 poster bed and sunken bath in the bay window – heaven! All of the rooms are perfect, beautifully and individually decorated, perfectly cleaned and with homemade baking amongst your welcome tray – you cant go wrong!

The staff all make you feel so welcome, nothing is too much trouble for them – they make you feel part of the family, although also wait on you hand and foot.

A stay here is one that you will never forget, Goldsborough will stay treasured in our hearts forever. We highly recommend a visit here both as a family, or, if you fancy a romantic night away – Goldsborough will not disappoint!

Love,

The Big Dreams Family x
